Back in April, SNK announced it would be releasing The King of Fighters XIII Global Match for the Switch later this year.
Now, during an update at EVO 2023, it's been revealed the 2D sprite-fighter will be launching around the world on 16th November 2023. Once again, this new release will come with a "rollback netcode overhaul" improving the overall online functionality.
SNK will also be releasing deluxe edition premium perks including a digital art book and a digital soundtrack.
As previously mentioned, The King of Fighters XIII originally started out as an arcade release in 2010 and was ported to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 a year later.

One of the best and most energetic games in the series, and one that makes me deeply miss SNK's former dedication to sprite art.
One of SNK’s finest fighting games right here. I’m definitely not the best at this game but I had so much fun playing this game back on the 360. A huge improvement over the disappointment that was KOF12.
Day one buy indeed. Will get this along with Persona 5 Tactica, and Super Mario RPG in the same month.
Pardon me while I have a seizure.
I can't wait for this.
Wait, seriously? This game got rollback netcode support on Switch, while other SNK games don't. Well... That's weird.
Awesome this finally has a release date two days after my birthday lol. Got really excited when this finally showed up as I was watching EVO (which everyone should be checking out btw)
Day 1! Fighting game fans eating good this week.
Tbh my favorite in the 2D series.
I hope the Switch can get the updated versions of 98 and 2002 as well. The Arcade Archives versions are great but lack online multiplayer and the added characters.
Oehhh nice!!
Love these games.
Looks Cool. I hope it's it's around 40 euros or cheaper.
@Vyacheslav333
I assume it's probably because it's less resource hungry than something like Samsho. Therefore it's easier to implement rollback without potentially screwing the game up in other aspects.
@steely_pete Well, who knows, who knows...
I'm old and can't remember, is this the one with fixed teams?
Ah the last good looking KoF game before the ugly stick that was XIV and the marginal improving, but still far from glory days XV.
@GrailUK Yes. It's a normal mainline game, and the last one in the Tales of Ash saga. I think that the SNK don't want to remember KOF XII's existence. At least, players pretend like this game haven't and do not talk about this one. KOF XII is the worst The King of Fighters mainline game. Also, even KOF 94's roster was bigger than the KOF XII's one. And the most annoying thing is – that the KOF XII is an official Tales of Ash Dream Match game. It is the only one bad SNK dream match title. And SNK haven't released a proper Tales of Ash saga dream match title(or KOF XII Ultimate Edition, if you prefer) since KOF XIII... And that probably don't gonna happen, much to everyone's sadness.
This is a great game but I think I didn’t play it much back on ps3 cos it doesn’t include an arcade mode online only which is not great if you plan on playing whilst travelling or whatever
@Gs69 I have this game on PS3. It has Arcade mode, Story mode, Training mode, and local Versus mode that can all be played offline.
@CharlieGirl it must be xiv or xv on ps4 one of them is pretty slim on single player modes
@CharlieGirl I really can’t remember which one it was but I’m sure arcade was added as an update long after the game was released which I think is pretty poor for an arcade game
@Gs69 Nope. XIV (14) and XV (15) are both fully playable offline, with arcade, story, and versus.
Are you thinking of KoF 12?
More than content to double (triple?) dip for this one on the go. One of the best entries in the series
@CharlieGirl really don’t know I remember buying a steel book special edition not sure which one but I was so underwhelmed by what was on offer for a single player I don’t think I touched it for a few months by which time there had been an update that added arcade mode but to be honest I always returned to older versions like dream match and evolution as the single player options were much better
@Vyacheslav333 Most (if not all) recent SNK games have rollback now. KOF XV shipped with it, and they've added it retroactively to SamSho, KOF 2002 UM and KOF 98 UM. Now they're doing the same to KOF XIII.
@sinndec I was talking about SNK games on Switch specifically.
@Gs69 You are talking about abysmal KOF XII.
Let's have some more SNK classics return. We had the awesome Andros Dunos 2. What about those other amazing shmups on the Neo.
@shonenjump86 i actually was a big fan of Kof 12, contrary to popular opinion i loved it
It's tempting, but I just got into Street Fighter Alpha 3, and I have KOF 98. Maybe if there's a wicked sale I'll get into it
One of my favorite KOF games. I still have the PS3 version.
It’s truly deep and rewarding, but difficult to execute. Granted the balance of the game is wonky (Team DLC owns everything; only base character that’s really worth running is Kim.)
I want XI and 98 UM but yes, I will buy that.
